Story of a Beloved Our Dog’s Journey

dog tales
Let me share some very beloved dog tales. When I was in high school, my parents gifted me a pair of dogs that they bought from their friend’s acquaintance.

I had a dog that I loved to death. Let me share some very beloved dog tales from my teen years. When I was in high school, my parents gifted me a pair of dogs that they bought from their friend’s acquaintance. I named them Vince and Fin. Both of them were French bulldogs and 11 months old. My parents get me these two little furry friends as a gift for me upon acing my final exams. They both became very close to me after some time as I loved animals back then.

Contrasting Personalities

Fin was more social. Wherever he goes out with me he would make a lot of friends there. He was eager to seek human interaction and win every heart with his charming character. After some time everyone found him more favored compared to Vince. Fin was more of a clingy breed, he would wrap around my legs whenever he sensed that I was going out somewhere or follow me wherever I went in the house.  While the other Vince had a high sense of self-worth, he did not care really if I was giving him the attention or love I was giving to Fin. He would play and participate in the games when I gave him time. On the other hand, Fin was the “needy for love” of his breed. He loved to chew everything but his toys and pleaded not guilty. I wanted both of them to be best friends but all they did was compete with one another.

After a while, I broke up with Vince, and I eventually handed him to a close friend who raised him the way he was supposed to.

Vince experienced a different life there around some other friends. He was the type to not get so much attention and just play on his own with his toys. He immediately became lost in the new home since he was preoccupied with himself rather than the surroundings.

The Trauma My Dog Encountered

On the contrary, I was unable to understand why Fin was seeking love when already so full of it. But despite all of the attention and love he was having, there was another issue with him that had a concern with the psychologist. Upon consulting a doctor about his behavior I got to know that Fin had some past abandonment issues that he faced at one of his last homes. He was thrown back when he needed the most love from his mother or any other human he was under surveillance. I was now more attached to Fin than before.

Imagine these voiceless animals being abandoned for no fault of his at all. Surviving the environment they are suffocated in, kept hungry for hours, and fed just to get the burden of life off their head. There is a huge difference between nurturing a dog and adopting them to make life more miserable for them. They are already taken away from their families and without pure love and keen attention to their health being taken care of, they develop abandonment anxieties. Leaving them alone for hours in the home and isolating them, makes them fear separation and crave physical love.

Search of Love

Upon the instructions of the doctor, I cared for Fin even more. An extra amount of love was embedded in my heart after knowing how he must have sought the genuine feeling of being appreciated and loved. Taking him for walks around the block daily, and playing with him rather than making him come for me every time I was doing my stuff made him realize his space.

These little efforts of affection towards a pet make them feel less vulnerable and more loyal to you.

Our time together was not so long when my parents decided to send me abroad for higher education. I was not allowed to take him with me. But little did we know it was the last time we were seeing each other. He did get out of his past traumas but fell into dilapidated condition after I left.

Even though life isn’t always sunshine and roses, Fin supported me in my dark times. He was there for me when I needed a sense of pure love and comfort. I truly appreciate these little furry friends for this!

Words cannot express the feelings I had for this adorable dog. Friends are truly the only one that comes to mind every time I think of my teen years.

Q: How did you come to own Vince and Fin?
A: My parents gifted me Vince and Fin, a pair of 11-month-old French bulldogs, as a reward for acing my final exams in high school. They were bought from a friend’s acquaintance, and both quickly became beloved members of our family.

Q: Can you describe the personalities of Vince and Fin?
A: Vince and Fin had contrasting personalities. Fin was very social, loved human interaction, and was always eager to make new friends. He was affectionate and clingy, often following me around the house. On the other hand, Vince was more independent and self-sufficient. He didn’t crave attention like Fin and was content playing by himself.

Q: What challenges did you face with Vince and Fin?
A: The biggest challenge was their competition with each other. Fin was more needy and always sought attention, while Vince was more aloof. Eventually, I had to make the difficult decision to rehome Vince with a close friend who could provide the kind of environment he needed.

Q: How did you discover Fin’s abandonment issues?
A: Despite being full of love, Fin’s behavior suggested something was wrong. After consulting a psychologist, I learned that Fin had abandonment issues from a previous home where he wasn’t given the care and love he needed. This explained his clingy nature and need for constant affection.
