    • One bag of M&M Minis

Instructions

Preparing the Cake

  • Begin by making one or two batches of our delicious The Best Buttercream Frosting, depending on the size of your cake.  There’s a good reason this is our most popular recipe—it’s creamy, tasty, and incredibly spreadable!  Here are comprehensive directions for making our Buttercream Frosting.
  • Using a box mix, we created a two-layer chocolate cake.  We offer a tonne of advice on how to get a cake mix to taste exactly like handmade!
  • We spread buttercream frosting over the cake using a spreader. This cake only needs a layer of wonderful buttercream frosting—a fancy icing adornment is not necessary.

Decorating the Cake

  • Decorating our cake was so simple. Three bags are required: one containingChocolate Drops, one containing ordinary M&Ms, and one containing M&M Minis.
  • To make the brown Mickey heads, place two ordinary M&Ms in place of the Mickey ears after using Hershey Drops for the Mickey head.  The first one should be placed in the center of the cake’s top.
  • To make the red Mickey heads, use two red M&M Minis for the ears and a regular red M&M for the Mickey head.
  • Cover the entire top of the cake with the red and brown Mickey heads. There is no right or wrong in this step. To the top of the cake, we arranged a random assortment of red and black Mickey Mouse heads.  This would make a fantastic cake decorating project for the kids because it’s so simple.
  • Remember to decorate the cake’s sides as well.  really cute!
